Policies

What to Bring

Please provide diapers, wipes, water bottle, a change of clothing, and a blankie, sleep sac, soother, stuffy etc. for nap time. Sun screen, hats, a towel and bathing suit are needed for Splash Days in the Summer and appropriate cold weather gear for Winter. Children must be prepared for Cochrane's ever changing weather!

Nutrition

We will provide two snacks and a lunch, however parents are welcome to provide thier own meals at their discretion. All meals will meet Canada Food Guide standards and meals menu will be posted on parent communication board. Meal ideas are welcome!

Screen Time

BGCCA guidlines state that screen time be limited to 45 minutes per day and that programs must be developmentally appropriate, unbiased, culturally sensitive and contain no violence or explicit materials.

Positive Guidance

Care providers will use modeling, supervison, and positive reinforcement to help prevent behavioral issues before they begin. At no time will physical or verbal agresssion be used to modify behavior. Stategies can be discussed with parents to maintain consistency for the child.

Medication

Medication will only be given to the child to whom it is perscribed. It must be in the original, labled container and must have dosage for the child. Medication will be returned to parents daily and a medication administration log is to be filled out and signed.

Illness

Sick children are the responsability of the parents and must not attend the day home. Children with a fever or diarrhea are requireed to say home for 24hrs.  Should a child become sick at the day home parents will be called for early pickup. Please see Parent Handbook for futrher details.

Absences

Parents are required to pay for all schduled days of child care. Please let me know as soon as possibel if your child will be late or absent.

Toilet Training

We all know that toilet training is a work in progress! Please let us know how we can help so we can maintain consistency for your child

Social Media

As per BGCCA policy, care providers will never post or share any photos of the children in their care on their social media. Photos may be taken and shared only with the childs parents if permission is given through the BGCCA Photo Concent form.

Back-Up Care

Light-duty back-up care is provided by my mom, Brenda, in the day home. A list of substitute providers can be offered to parents tthrough BGCCA for extended closures. It is at the discretion of the parents to use this service. If back up care service is not used, fees will be prorated/deducted from monthly invoice

Attendance Records

Attendance is recorded by care provider at drop off and pick up.

Naps and Rest Time

Our daily rhythm is flexible and can accomdate every child's nap schedule. We also have a Rest Time/Quiet Time in the afternoon around 1-2pm for nappers to nap and older children who chose not to rest can have quiet table time play.

Incidents

If a child is injured an incident form will be filled out by care provider and signed by parents at pick up. In case of serious injury, emergency services and parents/ emergency contact will be contacted immediatly.

Release of children 

Children will only be released to child's parent(s) or persons designated within the Child Care Contract.

Termination of Care

Two weeks written notice or two weeks child care fees in lieu for immediate withdrawl is required.

Vaccinations 

Alberta does not impose mandatory vaccinations for day homes, however, for the safety of everyone, we strongly recommend following the AHS child routine immunization schedule.
